My ISP does not allow outbound connections to port 25 and I can't send email. What can I do?

Some Internet Service Providers block outbound Port 25 connections, mostly to stop home ISP users from using their connection to send SPAM.

To get around this, simply change your SMTP (outgoing) port to either 465 or 587.

While some home ISP's block Port 25, most do not block SMTP over SSL, which runs on port 465. LAMP Host always recommends using SSL over SMTP whenever possible, to ensure maximum security when using e-mail.

As an alternative, you can use port 587, which is the most commonly used secondary SMTP port, provided for exactly this scenario.

For more information about changing the SMTP port on your preferred e-mail client, we recommend using the Help documents, located on all clients.
