SSL Certificates
Secure Socket Layer (SSL) is a protocol that secures data sent across the Internet. A server must have an SSL certificate installed to make a secure connection and safely transfer information. The certificate is an electronic file that uniquely identifies individuals and servers.

There are two online security problems that SSL certificates help solve:
- Authentication - prove a company's (or server's) identity online to create a sense of trust and confidence.
- Encryption - offer protection for the data submitted to a website (or between servers) so that in the event of interception, it will be unintelligible without the unique key used for decryption.
Solving these security problems protects your users from spoofing, unauthorized disclosure and data alteration.
